Focus on the gain, not the gap

This week's quote is a short one from The Productivity Show. Unfortunately, I've completely neglected to note down which episode of the podcast it was, so the context is now completely lost to the depths of my terrible memory, sorry!

I find myself thinking about metrics for work purposes constantly, so I guess it was inevitable that metrics would start to spill over into my personal life, especially in the annual resolutions I make expecting to fail. Coming up on the end of January, this quote was a very timely reminder not to get so bogged down in focussing on the gap that hasn't completely closed but rather on the gains that I've made since my Dec 31 resolutions!
